Potfolio - Defi

DeFi position detection automatically identifies and categorizes your decentralized finance holdings across various protocols. Instead of just showing token balances, our system recognizes whether tokens represent lending positions, liquidity pools, staking rewards, or other DeFi activities.

Updated about 2 months ago

How does Position Detection work?

- Protocol Analysis: Recognizes positions from major DeFi protocols like Aave, Compound, Uniswap

- Token Classification: Identifies lending tokens (aTokens), LP tokens, staking positions, and rewards

- Position Types: Categorizes positions as Lend/Supply, Borrow, Liquidity, Stake, Yield, Reward, Vault, or Position

- Real-time Updates: Continuously monitors for new positions and changes

Position Types Explained

- Lend/Supply (Green): Assets you've supplied to lending protocols

- Borrow (Red): Debt positions or borrowed assets

- Liquidity (Blue): Liquidity pool positions and LP tokens

- Stake (Purple): Staking positions for network validation or governance

- Yield (Teal): Yield farming and incentive programs

- Reward (Purple): Claimable rewards from protocols

- Vault (Indigo): Automated strategies like Yearn Finance vaults

- Position (Sky): Generic valuable positions that don't fit other categories

Why is Position Detection important?

- Complete picture: See all your DeFi activities, not just wallet balances

- Risk awareness: Understand your lending, borrowing, and liquidity exposure

- Performance tracking: Monitor yields, rewards, and position performance

- Strategic planning: Make informed decisions about position management

- Tax implications: Better understand your DeFi activities for reporting

Common Questions

Q: Why don't I see all my DeFi positions?

A: Some newer or less common protocols may not be detected yet. We continuously add support for new protocols.

Q: What if a position is categorized incorrectly?

A: Our detection system is constantly improving. Most positions are accurately detected, but edge cases may occur.

Q: Can I see historical DeFi positions?

A: Yes, you can view how your DeFi positions have changed over time in the portfolio history.

Q: Do I need to connect specific wallets for DeFi detection?

A: DeFi positions are detected automatically when you connect wallets that interact with DeFi protocols.

Tips and Best Practices

- Regular monitoring: Check your DeFi positions regularly as they can change rapidly

- Understand risks: Each position type carries different risks and rewards

- Diversification: Don't concentrate all positions in one protocol or position type

- Yield tracking: Monitor yields and rewards to optimize your DeFi strategy

- Protocol health: Keep an eye on the health and security of protocols you use

Troubleshooting

Missing DeFi positions:

- Ensure your wallet is properly connected

- Check if the protocol is supported on our platform

- Verify transactions have been confirmed on the blockchain

- Some positions may take time to appear after transactions

Position values seem incorrect:

- Price data may be delayed for some tokens

- Some LP tokens require complex valuation calculations

- Refresh the page to get latest data
